In our country, it is quite difficult to ignore the existence of flowers. Not only are they capable of emanating fragrances, they also have medicinal properties. In fact, they are considered to be extremely important in Ayurveda.
As therapeutic as ever, these flowers will help you retain your physical and mental health. A single flower or a bunch of flowers can gladden the mind and confer prosperity. In the various local traditions, flowers have forever been associated with the creator, religion, innumerable myths, and legends across. Similarly, flowers have forever remained an integral part of Indian culture.
I have been fortunate enough to be surrounded by many beautiful flowers all my life. Everything would start from monsoons, extremely fragrant flowers such as Son Chafha, Kavti Chapha, Ananta, Mogra, Jaijui, Brahma Kamal and hundreds more would be blooming all across the gardens of Alibaug, with the their intoxicating fragrances.
As some weeks pass, people go in jungles to collect wild flowers like Agni Shika (Nagveli cha phool), Kajuka, Raan Bhendi, Raan Kombda and many more to adorn their family goddesses. Interestingly, this never ending play with flowers goes on for whole year & has been going on for generations.
Some flowers such as Banana flowers & Bharangi flowers are consumed as food.
Many native flowers are also very fragrant as their sweet scent is intended to attract pollinators to their nectar source. Adding them to your landscape is a benefit to wildlife and to the senses.
